It is with great delight and pride that the ZTFE informs all of the fantastic news, that our Honorary Life Member Dr Cyrus S Poonawalla & Family of the Serum Institute of India donated GBP £50 million for the 'Poonawalla Vaccines research building' at Oxford University.
This will no doubt become a landmark Institution as part of the prestigious and world renowned Oxford University in the United Kingdom. More importantly it will promote the tiny minority Parsee entrepreneurship and indeed India to the forefront of the world forum.
This generous funding vindicates Doctorate in Science bestowed upon our Honorary Life Member Dr Cyrus S Poonawalla by Oxford University in 2019, which our patron Lord Karan F Bilimoria CBE, President Malcolm M Deboo and I had the honour of witnessing. We have already experienced the benefits of the Astra Zeneca Vaccines against the Covid-19 global pandemic and the vital role that the Serum Institute of India has played. This new Institution at Oxford University will not only be a bilateral boost to India and United Kingdom, but will be of global benefit. The Poonawalla Family have been righteous enough to declare their ambition to provide vaccines from Serum Institute of India at the cost of a cup of tea to make the world a safer place to live in. May their ambition be fulfilled.
We also thank our Patron Lord Karan F Bilimoria CBE, current President of CBI, for using his good office to facilitate in organising this donation.
