Dear ZTFE Members and well-wishers
On 28th February at our Zoroastrian Centre we celebrated, the Meher Parab Jashan, together, invoking the blessings of Meher Yazad, protector of truth and associated with friendship.
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused us to make drastic changes to our lives.
In March the very occasions that bring us together to celebrate life, were sadly cancelled. Our Zoroastrian Centre remains closed, but our resident priest Ervad Yazad T Bhadha performed the Jashans on 21st for Jamheedi NoRuz, on 23rd for Ava Parab and on 25th March for Khordad Sal. He performs the Boi ceremony daily and invokes the names of all those who are ill in the Doa Tandorosti prayers. After death ceremonies requested by the families of the deceased continue to be performed.
At this time we pray for humanity, including Zoroastrians in the UK, Europe and across the globe.
ZTFE Zartoshty Brothers Fund played a vital role, together with Dr Shernaz Cama of UNESCO PARZOR, our Honorary Life Member Dr Cyrus S Poonawalla of Serum Institute, Dr Yousuf Hamied of Cipla, our patron Lord Karan F Bilimoria CBE DL, Homa Zartoshty and FEZANA President Homi Gandhi, in donating ventilators, accessories and medicine, which were airlifted in last week of March from Delhi to Tehran for the Shahid Sadoughi University Medical Hospital, Yazd, to help Iranians infected by COVID-19, including Zoroastrians. ZTFE appeals for further funds to help Zoroastrians and others in Iran affected by the Coronovirus. (Contact ZTFE Secretary on <[email protected]>)
We thank and pray to Ahura Mazda for continued protection for our loved ones in public service and their colleagues, especially in the NHS and other front line services.
Self-isolation and social distancing have created other ways of carrying on with our lives. Our YZ karate instructor Danny Master has live streamed fitness and karate sequences for students of the YZ martial arts class. Children’s Education Fun Club coordinator Shazneen Munshi and volunteers have conducted online RE lessons for our children. Sadly self-isolation has also left many of our senior citizens worried about how to cope.
In a moment Rozy Contractor ZSCH-CZC, lead will explain exactly how we can help. In the meantime we look forward to celebrating the day, when our Zoroastrian Centre will be open again and make no mistake it will open again.
Together our Community will get through this united and stronger.
May Ahura Mazda keep you and your dear ones safe and healthy thank you.
