The Zoroastrian stories of migration project

Voices from the past and present, enriching our future
Picture
Why it matters:

Every migration story is a heartbeat - a memory of courage, hope, and resilience. For Zoroastrians, these journeys are not just about crossing borders; they are about carrying forward a flame that has burned for over 3,000 years.

This project exists because these voices must never fade. They are the stories of individuals and families who left everything behind to build new lives in England, shaping the heritage of a community that now calls the UK their home.

Our Mission:

ZTFE is proud to be part of Stories of Harrow, an initiative supported by Harrow Giving, Voluntary Action Harrow and made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, in collaboration with Headstone Manor Museum. We have already collected over 25 powerful stories - many from those who migrated decades ago, others from recent arrivals. Each story is a thread in the tapestry of our shared history. We will continue to gather and share these voices, ensuring they live on for generations.

Our work:

Through intergenerational workshops and oral history recordings, we capture the essence of migration: the struggles, the triumphs, and the unwavering faith that binds us. These stories reflect resilience, adaptation, and the enduring flame of Zoroastrian values: Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds, along with Truth, Charity, and Respect for Nature.

Our Project:

We will ensure these stories centralised and preserved forever. They will not only teach future generations but also foster understanding among wider communities, creating pride, belonging, and inclusion. In time, these stories will be archived at Headstone Manor Museum in Harrow, a permanent testament to the courage and spirit of Zoroastrians.

We invite you to listen, learn, and feel the power of these voices. They are not just stories - they are our heritage, our identity, and our gift to the future.

Note: Stories are in the process of being finished and will be uploaded as and when they are ready.
